Payments

At this time, we require payment prior to scheduling. We utilize PayPal and Stripe for our payment methods, both of which are highly regarded as safe methods of online payment. Both PayPal and Stripe accept all major credit cards, and PayPal also has an option to pay directly from your bank account. MSD Therapeutic Services does not have access to your credit card or bank account information.

Insurance

At this time, we do not accept any insurances. There are many restrictions and regulations when working with insurance. We want what is best for you, so we made this choice intentionally.

You may, however, be eligible for out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance by submitting the invoice we will provide (it will include a relevant billing code). *Most insurances will have out-of-network benefits for individual therapy only, but it is still worth a call!

Please note it is your responsibility to submit invoices to your insurance company and to know your out-of-network benefits. You are responsible for all payments prior to scheduling. Your insurance will pay you directly for what you are eligible. It is also important to note that this process may take several weeks.

Your provider can help guide you on what questions to ask, however. Questions that may helpful include:

  • What are my out-of-network benefits for individual or couple’s therapy?
  • What is the percentage/allowed amount/reimbursement rate?
  • Is there a limit to the number of out-of-network sessions eligible for reimbursement?
  • Are there specific codes or documentation that is required for reimbursement?
  • What is the time-frame I should expect for reimbursement?

Initial Consultation

Our initial consultation process is a way for our providers to get to know you. We will conduct various assessments, gather relevant information, and assess appropriateness for tele-health therapy.* This is also the time where you will make goals with your provider, so you can get started during your first session! On rare occasion, the initial consultation takes longer than the allotted time (90 minutes). In these cases, you will finish your initial consultation during your first scheduled session.

*Some reasons that clients may not be appropriate for tele-health include, but are not limited to:

  • Current or severe suicidal ideation (strong desire to harm oneself)
  • Current or severe homicidal ideation (strong desire to harm others)
  • Current or severe drug and alcohol use
  • Anyone who does not have access to a confidential location during session time
  • Symptoms of psychosis or mania
  • Couples who are experiencing physical domestic violence
  • Anybody who does not feel physically or emotionally safe being alone or with their partner

If it is determined by your provider that you are not an appropriate candidate for tele-health services**, you will receive a refund based on the following:

  • If it is determined within the first 10 minutes of your session, you will receive a full-refund minus $50 (the same as our no-show policy).
  • If it is determined after 10 minutes, you will receive a $50 refund.

**Please note that we take many precautions to prevent this from happening, and this occurrence is very rare. If you would like more clarification prior to the initial consultation, please schedule a free 15-minute consultation.

Sessions

Individual therapy sessions are about 45 minutes long. Couple’s therapy sessions are about one hour long.

Our coaching sessions are about one hour long, but may be broken up into multiple sessions in increments of 15 minutes. You must let your provider know at least 12 hours in advance or you will be charged for the full-session.

We will make two attempts to reach you over a 10 minute period. After 10 minutes, you will be charged for a no-show. For coaching sessions that are only 15 minutes, this grace period will be 5 minutes.

Client Responsbilities

Sessions must be held in a safe and confidential location, such as a private office. We reserve the right to cancel session if you are under the influence, driving, in a public space, or with others (including kids). It is also your responsibility to situate your technology prior to session, including, but not limited to: internet connection; phone service; battery life of electronics. If we cannot hold session for any of these (or similar) reasons, the session will be treated as a no-show.

For therapy clients, it is necessary that, during your entire session, you are physically in the state in which your provider is licensed.

No-Shows

Our no-show policy is very generous and very simple. If you cancel or reschedule within 12 hours of your appointment time, or if you fail to show up to session within the first 10 minutes, you will receive a full-refund minus $50.

If you miss a coaching session that is scheduled for 30 minutes or less, you will forfeit that time. If you miss a coaching session that is scheduled for 45 minutes or longer, you will receive a full-refund minus $50.

Refunds

You may receive a full-refund at any time, for any reason up until 12 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. If you request a refund within the 12 hour cancellation window, you will receive a full-refund minus $50.

If it is determined within the first 10 minutes of your initial consultation that you are not a good candidate for tele-health, you will receive a full-refund minus $50. If it is determined after 10 minutes, you will receive a $50 refund.

If you need to leave the session suddenly for any reason, and it is within 10 minutes of the original start time of the session, you will receive a full-refund minus $50. After 10 minutes, you will not receive a refund.

Birthday Surprise!

We offer a SURPRISE discount during your birthday month. To be eligible for this birthday surprise, you must be an existing client of at least two months AND you must let your provider know that it is your birthday month!

Reviews and Referrals

Our business depends on positive word of mouth. If you leave us an HONEST review, we will give you a $50 discount off of your next session (one-time credit). This discount is only available to clients of at least 2 months, and the review MUST be honest.

If you refer somebody to us, you will receive $50 off of your next session after they complete the initial consultation. The person you refer will receive $50 off of their first session, as well (initial consultation will be full price).

We appreciate you and hope you speak highly of us as we grow our business.

Termination of Care

Our providers have the right to cease treatment for any client, at any time, for any reason. Your provider may choose to stop a session early or remove you from our practice. If your provider makes the decision to remove you from our practice, we will provide you with referrals, but will not help connect you with another provider. If your provider chooses to stop a session early, you will not receive a refund. In most cases, you will receive multiple warnings prior to this happening. It is your provider’s right to use their clinical judgment in making this determination.

Reasons for ceasing treatment include, but are not limited to:

  • Clients becoming violent or combative with the provider or with each other (couple's therapy)
  • Excessive no-shows or cancellations
  • Not engaging in treatment
  • Psychiatric hospitalizations*
  • Being a danger to oneself or others*
  • Developing symptoms of psychosis or mania*

*In certain instances, it is required by law that we continue care while connecting you with a more appropriate provider.
